Butt-Busting Boot Camp
Like most people that struggle with body image, I have a story. I didn't just wake up one day and decide to lose weight — what I got was a wake-up call. I was pushing 210lbs — a dangerous weight for most people — and my 5'4" frame was having a hard time supporting the excess baggage. I had joint issues, pain and a cancer scare — and when I went for my yearly physical my doctor called me obese.
To hear that word was devastating. I couldn't believe that I was obese! My weight had gone up and down over the years, but I had never considered myself that heavy.
As hard as it was to hear that word, my doctor did me a favour that day. I had walked into her office thinking that I had no cares in the world, and when I walked out, I knew that I had been fooling myself.
I realized how much damage I was doing to my body, mind and overall health. And when I really thought about it, I knew that my weight was the reason I always felt tired, sluggish, absent of energy and with no zest for life.
