The Vampire Facial aka PRP

The Vampire Facial aka PRP

Hi beauties! Today I want to talk about something that is becoming SUPER popular…

Platelet-Rich Plasma aka the vampire facial.

It seems like everyone is doing it; Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, all the celebrities are raving about the benefits of this new skin care trend. So, what is it? Is it worth the pricey cost? Let’s break down this new trend and I would also like to share with you my experience.

Essentially, PRP is done by taking a few vials of your own blood, extracting the plasma and red blood cells. And then adds the plate rich plasma back into your face. For extra absorption, the doctor first pokes your face all over with tiny needles. The theory behind this is that the plasma helps in healing and stimulates your skin to regenerate and produce more collagen. The benefits? This Vampire Facial is touted to take years off your face and making it appear fresher and younger, diminish dark spots, and minimize fine lines and wrinkles. Sounds too good to be true right? After looking into this treatment for a while, I finally pulled the trigger and scheduled a PRP facial for myself.

First, the doctor took roughly 4 vials of my blood (it may have been more) from me. Then, Dr. Chad applied a numbing cream to my face and then the waiting game began. About 15 min later, I could not feel a thing on my face and he began to go over my skin with tiny little needles puncturing tiny little holes in my pores. I barely felt a thing. Then, after being spun through a machine, he reapplied my blood to my face. I sat there for a few minutes, looking like I had just been through a bloody brawl, before removing the blood and applying a collagen mask that would help reduce the swelling.

Ultimately, the overall experience was very pleasant. I have a pretty high pain tolerance, I think most women do, but I didn’t find the procedure too painful. Now, the next day, and a few days later, I was bruised and swollen. However, fast forward to 4 days later… and OMG my skin was RADIANT!!! The glow, the brightness, the smoothness, it was FLAWLESS! I have a spotted pigmentation to my skin, from not wearing sunscreen when I was younger, and the improvement is INASANE! I can honestly say that my skin has never looked so good. So many people commented on how refreshed I look, meanwhile I probably haven’t slept in weeks lol.

All in all, I would highly recommend PRP facial for anyone interested in rejuvenating their skin. The results are spectacular, and with a good skincare regime, last 6 months to a year. Personally, I am new to this whole world of skincare, but I’ve recently discovered the importance of taking care of your skin. You only get one face… so I’m going to do whatever I can to take care of it!!!

Till next time beauties!
