Self Care - You Deserve It!

First things first, self-care is not selfish!

Now that we got that out of the way, lets proceed. 😉 I spend my days working with women so I know that our daily lives are busy and the last thought on our minds is taking time out for ourselves. However, if we value relationships, then why wouldn’t we take the time to nurture our relationship with ourselves?

I can promise you that it is not time wasted and the benefits pay back tenfold allowing you to be more productive with your time. The best way to make these changes is to set them as non-negotiables in your daily calendar.

Most times when you think of self-care, the physical comes to mind first.

Are you setting aside time to move your body? Remembering that working out is not punishment. It is time set aside for yourself because your health matters. Think of it more as prevention. How many times have you dreaded getting to the gym but after you feel amazing? Hang on to that “after” feeling.

Eating well, exercising, and sleep are forms of the physical self-care to invest in. I am firm believer in treating yo self too so here are some ways to pamper yourself because when you feel better about the way that you look – you just feel better overall. The extra bonus is that these are ways to activate your parasympathetic nervous system and bring down the stress response in the body.

  • Massage
  • Facials (can easily do a face mask at home)
  • Mani’s & Pedi’s
  • Epsom Salt Baths (with essential oils)
  • Sauna Sessions (infrared saunas are my favorite!)
  • Chiropractic Adjustments

Emotional self-care is just as important. It’s important that we not only value the body but we value the mind!

  • Set Aside Time For Reflection or Journaling
  • Gratitude Journal
  • Meditation (there are numerous apps that you can use for this such as Calm, HeadSpace, or Insight Timer that give you guided meditations)
  • Devotionals
  • Listen to Podcasts
  • Read a Good Book

Please understand that you are worthy of self-care. Many of these things are free or cost very little and the ones that cost more can be treats that you look forward to, so don’t let money be your excuse. Start with one practice from each list week and build up!

Extend love toward yourself!

Be Beautiful. Be You.
