Are Your Goals Realistic?

Whenever you set a goal, ask yourself first and foremost - what is my strategy? Then consider these questions:

  1. Do you believe you can achieve this? Are you able to visualize yourself doing this? 
  2. How will this serve me and make me a better person? 
  3. What can I learn from this? 
  4. Can this lead to something greater, maybe a career change or increase in my income? 
  5. Is it going to be affordable with my budget?
  6. Am I willing to get uncomfortable?
  7. Will pushing this make me crazy because my schedule is already full?
  8. Who qualified will help me and are they an example? 
  9. Is this the right time? or am I traveling a lot? 

Goals can be reached with these things all out of whack, but it makes it a bloody struggle. You don't want trying to execute the goal and end as a big excuse maker.

You either are creative with solutions or seek the advice of a coach whose been there, done it and will teach you the HOW TO.

If you aren't a good follower forget coaching. If you have to drive even when you don't know where you are going, you will find yourself on a slippery slope thinking, "I've got this." Intelligent people understand what the word expert is and NOT.

Being an athlete in the sport of bodybuilding i learned about humility. You understand no matter how great you are there is always MORE to learn and that a coach is vital for perspective. Even the best athletes continue to hire coaches or rely on people who are professionals for advice.

If you let your EGO run your show in life. You may get smacked down and have to reset or start over.

My goal to compete is something that happened by default. The last thing I expected was to be on stage in a bikini in my 30's and 40's. I never viewed my body as beautiful. It was never good enough. Then I decided to try something - it started with a fitness competition and then I won my first show. That started a fire I didn't even know I had inside.

At times, life beat me down. This taught me how to make great comebacks and to not settle for mediocre. Over the past 15 years of bodybuilding in Bikini, fitness and figure I've learned to respect this art form. There is so much we can do naturally with our bodies with just food and exercise. It's magical really!

Bodybuilding gave me a strength I needed and confidence. It gave me a platform to work off of and an identity. When I stopped in my 30's I felt a loss, coming back again in my 40's felt like I was born again. I couldn't believe I could do it all again, but I did and even greater.

You just never know unless you try. Being an IFBB pro now retired I feel complete. I'm grateful have been able to say, I achieved this. I just did my homework well and surprised myself. The rest naturally happened as a result. Now I hope to leave a legacy behind sharing my holistic bodybuilding methods.

I got to experience a rebirth and gave birth to a team. I also acquired a ton of credentials along the way. When you feel strong there is so much you can do with that strength.

Now I choose to inspire, teach and share all I know. I have no idea if I will hit the stage again. It just seems weird to me to do it now. But, I enjoy staying connected and using all I have learned to develop my clients. I have to admit it's more rewarding for me. I no longer need what I needed then. Life has changed and so have I.

Finish what you start and making quitting not an option. Keep the competition in perspective. Make it more about you against you. Also just like gambling, know when it's time to stop or take a break. There are times to strive and be a better you. And there are times it's game over and time for something new. Whatever that means to you!
